Volunteering for Growth & Development Services, Inc. (GDS) has proven to be an incredible learning and supportive experience. Generally, volunteers who are interested in working directly with the teens are first recruited for positions as camp counselors, activity specialists or staff at Camp Excel, and then participate in the year-round Excel Program by attending reunions and possibly opting to be a mentor.

If you are interested in working directly with our teens, you must be at least 21 years old and complete a 1-day training and orientation, as well as a four day sleep away camp. Both training and the actual Camp Excel will be held from August 22nd - August 26th, 2007.

It is also possible to volunteer indirectly for GDS (i.e. without direct contact with our teens) through fundraising, PR, office/computer work, etc.
